Valcom K-12 Paging System Options

IP Backbone/Retrofit System

Combining analog speakers and cabling with IP network audio gateways, IP backbone/retrofit general purpose paging systems offer a cost-effective solution for both existing and new network infrastructures. This system allows for the utilization of existing analog infrastructure and speakers while providing the benefits of migration to IP control.

Compared to analog systems, the deployment of an IP backbone system is faster, and software can be used to make changes such as volume levels, zoning, and more. Stand-alone phones or microphones, as well as FXO, FXS, and SIP, can be used to make page announcements. The system also enables the connection of IP speaker and horn endpoints that can broadcast simultaneously with the analog speakers.

Typically used in larger buildings or areas of coverage, IP backbone systems can offer 1 to 200 zones.

Full IP System

Modern and flexible, full IP general purpose paging systems can be easily installed and used with new or existing network infrastructures. With a simple plug-and-play setup, each endpoint, such as speakers and horns, can be connected to a PoE network switch, which provides both communications and power through a single port. The system is 100% software-controlled and managed, allowing for easy adjustments to be made with just a few clicks, including changes to speaker volume levels, zoning, and all-call page broadcast. Access to the system can be achieved through stand-alone phones, microphones, IP Interactive Consoles, FXO, FXS, and SIP.

One of the most significant benefits of a full IP system is its limitless zoning capabilities, making it suitable for a range of applications, from small buildings to multi-building, multi-site, and multi-campus environments. The system can be expanded without the need to purchase new headend equipment, allowing for cost-effective scalability. For enterprise customers, multiple full IP systems can be linked together and controlled from a central location for streamlined management.
